While many parts of the country and many new houses are being build with no basements, older homes and homes that have a high water table all need some type of water removal system.  Because of its versatility and its ability to get rid of water, the hydromatic model is among the most popular pumps in use today.

The float trigger is the most popular of all trigger mechanisms and has been used for the longest.  The float trigger has remained popular, due to its ability to work on its own and provide a reliable system to those for those with water in their basement.   While this mechanism is the most popular it still has flaws.  One thing people often complain about what this type of system is that water has build up before the trigger mechanism starts to work.  This can sometimes be too late and cause problems with the purpose of having the sump pump.

Many of the newer models offer sump pumps that sit much lower to the ground, thus making it faster to trigger.   These models often trigger after only an inch or so of water and are work much quicker.   The cons of these tend to be the higher price because of this new technology.
